As the session closed, the market reflected a mix of sector leadership and sector pressure: consumer-packaged goods and services names pushed the benchmark higher, while energy and several financial preferred shares weighed on the index. Commodity moves in coffee and cocoa were positive, while gold futures retreated modestly and FX moves were limited.

Risks

  • Energy sector pressure - Ecopetrol's 2.90% decline may signal near-term volatility for energy-linked equities, which can affect broader market performance and investor sentiment.
  • Currency fluctuations - USD/COP and BRL/COP both moved 0.08%, creating potential exchange-rate risk for companies with foreign currency exposure, particularly importers and exporters.
  • Commodities volatility - Sharp moves in agricultural commodities like coffee (up 4.91%) and cocoa (up 2.08%), together with a pullback in gold futures (down 1.18%), introduce price risk for firms tied to those commodity markets and for related investor positions.
