Commodities and FX showed divergent moves. Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.25% or 10.10 to $4,080.90 a troy ounce. In energy markets, Crude oil for September delivery fell 8.33% or 7.44 to hit $81.87 a barrel. Overall, the close reflected selective strength among domestic cyclicals and consumer-related names, while energy and some commodity-linked equities lagged. The balance of advancing versus declining issues and the drop in implied volatility suggest a session dominated by stock-specific moves rather than broad risk-off pressure.

Risks

  • Energy-sector weakness as illustrated by declines in PRIO3, RECV3 and PETR3 could pressure sector performance and related indices.
  • A sizable drop in crude oil prices - with September delivery down 8.33% to $81.87 a barrel - introduces volatility for commodity-linked companies and markets.
  • Currency moves, including USD/BRL up 0.57% to 5.11 and EUR/BRL up 0.89% to 5.83, may affect exporters and import-sensitive sectors.
