Greece's equities finished the trading session in positive territory on Tuesday, with gains concentrated in Banking, Construction and Travel names that helped the benchmark close at a five-year high.
The Athens General Composite rose 0.52% by the close, reclaiming a level not seen in five years. Market participation was mixed but tilted toward advances: 62 stocks finished higher, 55 declined and 17 were unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
Top performers
Aktor Symmetochon Technikon kai Energoiakon Ergon AE (AT:AKTRr) led the session's winners, surging 12.53% — a rise of 1.24 points — to finish at 11.14. Ilyda SA Class R (AT:ILYr) added 5.94%, up 0.26 points to close at 4.55. Holding Company ADMIE IPTO SA (AT:ADMr) advanced 4.32%, gaining 0.18 points to end the day at 4.35.
Lagging names
On the downside, Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) fell 2.24%, a slide of 0.44 points to 19.22 at the close. BriQ Properties REIC (AT:BRIQr) declined 1.95%, losing 0.06 points to finish at 3.01, while Lavipharm SA (AT:LPHr) was down 1.53%, slipping 0.02 points to 1.54.
Shares in Holding Company ADMIE IPTO SA (AT:ADMr) reached an all-time high in the session, rising 4.32% or 0.18 to 4.35.
Commodities and currencies
Commodities moved lower during the session. Gold futures for August delivery fell 0.14% — a decline of 6.20 — to $4,345.40 a troy ounce. In energy markets, crude oil for July delivery dropped 4.69%, down $3.79 to $76.96 a barrel, while the August Brent contract fell 3.91%, decreasing $3.25 to $79.92 a barrel.
Foreign-exchange rates were largely unchanged: EUR/USD was essentially flat, shifting 0.09% to 1.16, and EUR/GBP moved 0.05% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 99.38.
