Von Allmen shocks field to take Olympic men's downhill on Stelvio
Switzerland's Franjo von Allmen produced a near-flawless descent on the Stelvio piste to claim Olympic gold in the men's downhill with a time of 1:51.61. Italy's Giovanni Franzoni secured silver in front of a 7,000-strong home crowd, while veteran Dominik Paris took bronze. Pre-race favourite Marco Odermatt, the World Cup leader, finished fourth.
