Israel’s main equity gauge, the TA-35, closed slightly higher Tuesday, reaching a new all-time peak. Gains in biomedical, technology and banking names supported the advance, while a larger number of issues declined than rose. Selected commodities and currency benchmarks moved modestly, with crude and Brent oil up and the US Dollar Index futures lower.

Key Points

  • TA-35 closed at a new all-time high, rising 0.09% - equity benchmark performance
  • Top gains concentrated in Biomed, Technology and Banking sectors, including NXSN and NVMI hitting record highs - sector leadership impact
  • Market breadth was negative with 283 decliners versus 194 advancers and 70 unchanged - breadth may affect short-term market internals

Israel's equity market ended Tuesday with a modest advance as the TA-35 index rose 0.09% to close at a new all-time high. Strength in the Biomed, Technology and Banking sectors underpinned the session's gains, although decliners outnumbered advancers on the exchange.

Session movers

The top performers on the TA-35 were:

  • Next Vision Stabilized Systems (NXSN) - up 5.10% or 1,400.00 points to 28,850.00 at the close.
  • Nova (NVMI) - rose 2.32% or 3,390.00 points to finish at 149,390.00.
  • Elbit Systems Ltd (ESLT) - climbed 1.43% or 3,190.00 points to 225,990.00.

The laggards for the day included:

  • Menora Miv Hld (MMHD) - down 3.26% or 1,300.00 points to 38,570.00 at the close.
  • NICE Ltd (NICE) - declined 2.40% or 870.00 points to end at 35,440.00.
  • Clal Insurance Enterprises Holdings Ltd (CLIS) - fell 2.16% or 480.00 points to 21,780.00.

Market breadth showed more selling than buying: 283 issues fell versus 194 that advanced on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, with 70 securities unchanged.

Notable highs

Shares of Next Vision Stabilized Systems (NXSN) and Nova (NVMI) each reached all-time highs during the session. NXSN closed up 5.10% at 28,850.00, while NVMI ended the day at a record 149,390.00, gaining 2.32%.

Commodities and currencies

In commodities, crude oil for March delivery rose 1.60% or 0.97 to trade at $61.60 a barrel. Brent oil for April delivery increased 1.42% or 0.92 to $65.69 a barrel. The April Gold Futures contract ticked down 0.04% or 2.06 to $5,120.24 a troy ounce.

On the foreign exchange front, USD/ILS moved lower by 0.21% to 3.11, while EUR/ILS climbed 0.42% to 3.71. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 96.23.

What this means

The session delivered a small upward move in the headline index, with leadership concentrated in select biomed, technology and banking names. Despite the TA-35's marginal gain and fresh record, the broader market displayed more declines than advances, signaling a mixed internals profile behind the headline number.

Data points and price changes above reflect closing levels and session moves as reported for the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and related commodity and FX benchmarks.

Risks

  • A larger number of declining stocks than advancing ones may indicate uneven market participation - this could affect sector rotation and short-term breadth-driven volatility (Equities)
  • Movements in oil and currency pairs introduce external price risk for energy-linked and import/export sensitive sectors - rising oil prices could influence cost structures (Commodities, FX)
  • Concentration of gains in a few names, even with index at a record, leaves the market vulnerable if those leading stocks reverse - potential impact on Technology and Biomed exposure
