Taiwan equities ended higher on Tuesday, with the Taiwan Weighted index gaining 1.60% to close at a fresh record. Strength in Electronic Parts/Components, Communication and Internet, and Chemicals supported the advance, while several individual names recorded large intraday moves in both directions. Commodities and currency benchmarks showed modest shifts alongside the equity gains.

  • Ennostar Inc (TW:3714) declined 9.25% or 5.30 points to finish at 52.00.
  • EverFocus Electronics Corp (TW:5484) was down 7.35% or 3.20 points to 40.35.

In commodities trading, crude oil for May delivery fell 1.73% or 1.71 to $97.37 a barrel. Brent oil for June delivery slipped 0.79% or 0.78 to $98.58 a barrel. The June Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 16.30 to trade at $4,783.70 a troy ounce.

On foreign exchange, USD/TWD was down 0.03% at 31.64. TWD/CNY was reported unchanged 0.09% at 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 98.13.
