Commodity prices showed mixed direction on the day. Gold futures for December delivery fell 1.88% or $84.20 to $4,389.50 a troy ounce. Contextual note - Market breadth on the Moscow exchange favored risers substantially during the session, and several large percentage moves among individual names contributed to the headline gain for the MOEX Russia Index.

Risks

  • Options-implied volatility changed materially during the session - the RVI fell 12.47% to 45.33, indicating a shift in market-implied volatility that could affect risk pricing in derivatives and equities.
  • Commodity price moves were uneven, with gold down 1.88% and crude showing mixed direction - such fluctuations can introduce uncertainty for mining, energy and related sectors.
  • Large single-stock moves, such as the 19.70% rise in Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank and the 9.46% gain in ALROSA, suggest concentration of near-term gains that may increase stock-specific volatility.
