Lockheed Martin's Rotary and Mission Systems unit received two contract modifications from U.S. defense agencies totaling $37.9 million. One modification, valued at $18.8 million, adds production and production-management work for a three-dimensional expeditionary long-range radar and raises the underlying contract value to $572.9 million. A separate $19.1 million cost-plus-incentive-fee modification covers engineering and maintenance support for MK48 heavyweight torpedo work, with partial fiscal 2026 funding obligated.

Key Points

  • Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems received two contract modifications totaling about $37.9 million covering radar production and torpedo engineering/maintenance.
  • The radar modification adds production of one three-dimensional expeditionary long-range radar and production-management responsibilities, raising that contract's total to $572.9 million.
  • Work will be performed in Liverpool, New York and at the Intermediate Maintenance Activity in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; contracts are overseen by Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and Naval Sea Systems Command, affecting defense manufacturing and military maintenance sectors.

Lockheed Martin has been awarded two contract modifications, together worth approximately $37.9 million, to advance radar production and torpedo maintenance efforts, company contract announcements show.

The first award is an $18.8 million modification to a previously awarded contract for a three-dimensional expeditionary long-range radar. The change specifically covers the production of a single radar system plus associated production-management activities. With this modification the cumulative value of that contract rises to $572.9 million, up from $554.1 million.

Work tied to the radar production will take place at Lockheed Martin's facility in Liverpool, New York. The contract sets a completion date of December 15, 2027. Oversight for this award is being provided by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center based at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.

The second modification was awarded to the company’s Rotary and Mission Systems business as a $19.1 million cost-plus-incentive-fee action. It covers engineering and maintenance services related to MK48 heavyweight torpedo efforts. That work is scheduled to be performed at the Intermediate Maintenance Activity in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, with an anticipated completion in February 2027.

The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C. is managing the torpedo-related contract. At the time of award, $3.7 million in fiscal 2026 operations and maintenance funds were obligated to the contract.

Both actions are structured as modifications to existing workstreams rather than new, stand-alone contracts. They identify specific tasks, locations for execution and firm target completion dates, and they are being administered by separate service acquisition offices - the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center for the radar work and Naval Sea Systems Command for the torpedo work.

These contract modifications allocate defined responsibilities for production, production management and engineering or maintenance services, and they include both fixed incremental funding obligations and cost-plus-incentive-fee provisions as described in the award notices.

Contract specifics at a glance

  • $18.8 million modification for one three-dimensional expeditionary long-range radar plus production management; increases related contract value to $572.9 million from $554.1 million; work in Liverpool, New York; completion by December 15, 2027; overseen by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts.
  • $19.1 million cost-plus-incentive-fee modification for engineering and maintenance services for MK48 heavyweight torpedo efforts; work at the Intermediate Maintenance Activity in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; completion by February 2027; managed by the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington, D.C.; $3.7 million in fiscal 2026 O&M funds obligated at award.

Risks

  • Specified completion dates - December 15, 2027 for the radar and February 2027 for the torpedo work - present schedule risk if production or maintenance activities do not progress as planned. This affects defense manufacturing and maintenance timelines.
  • Only $3.7 million in fiscal 2026 operations and maintenance funds were obligated at the time of the torpedo contract award, indicating potential exposure to future funding decisions that could affect program cash flow and timing.
  • The radar modification assigns production management responsibilities, which introduces execution and supply-chain coordination risks for the Liverpool, New York production site.
