Shares in Denmark ended the trading session higher on Thursday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 up 0.22% at the close in Copenhagen. Sector strength in Consumer Goods, Technology and Oil & Gas helped push the index into positive territory.
Top gainers
The session's strongest performers on the OMX Copenhagen 20 included Zealand Pharma A/S (CSE:ZELA), which advanced 2.24% - an increase of 6.80 points - to finish at 310.50. AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B (CSE:MAERSKb) added 2.17%, rising 460.00 points to close at 21,670.00. Its A share class, AP Moeller - Maersk A/S A (CSE:MAERSKa), gained 1.86%, or 380.00 points, to end the day at 20,800.00.
Largest declines
On the downside, Coloplast A/S (CSE:COLOb) posted the steepest drop among benchmark names, falling 3.17% - down 15.20 points - to 463.90 at the close. ISS A/S (CSE:ISS) declined 1.48%, shedding 4.20 points to reach 280.40, while Pandora A/S (CSE:PNDORA) slipped 1.41%, down 12.00 points to 839.20.
Market breadth and participation
Advancers narrowly outnumbered decliners on the Copenhagen exchange, with 61 stocks rising against 55 that fell. A further 21 shares finished unchanged.
Commodities and FX movers
Commodity markets showed upward momentum during the session. Crude oil for October delivery increased 0.98%, or $0.89, to $91.90 a barrel. Brent oil for November delivery rose 0.76%, or $0.73, to $96.36 a barrel. The December Gold Futures contract climbed 3.18%, a gain of $140.34, to trade at $4,554.94 a troy ounce.
On the currency front, USD/DKK moved lower by 0.31% to 6.43. EUR/DKK was effectively unchanged, shifting 0.01% to 7.47. The US Dollar Index Futures declined 0.61% to 98.95.
Thursday's session left Copenhagen modestly higher with mixed internals and notable moves in commodities and exchange rates that intersect with several market sectors. The Consumer Goods, Technology and Oil & Gas groups were among those that supported the advance, while select healthcare and services names recorded the largest declines.
