On the downside, Micro Data SA (CSE:MIC) led decliners after shedding 3.22% - a drop of 23.80 points - to end at 716.20. Beverage producer Societe des Boissons du Maroc SA (CSE:SBM) fell 3.00%, decreasing by 65.00 points to close at 2,103.00, and Med Paper (CSE:MDP) slipped 2.75%, or 0.70 points, to finish at 24.80.

Market breadth was positive: rising issues outnumbered falling ones on the Casablanca Stock Exchange by 35 to 22, while 10 stocks finished unchanged.

Commodity markets showed notable moves during the session. Crude oil for September delivery increased 2.80%, adding $2.34 to trade at $85.93 a barrel. Brent crude for October delivery rose 2.11% or $1.83 to $88.71 a barrel. In precious metals, the August Gold Futures contract declined 1.32%, down $54.10 to trade at $4,046.00 a troy ounce.

Currency crosses involving the Moroccan dirham moved lower versus both the euro and the U.S. dollar. EUR/MAD fell 0.19% to 10.74, while USD/MAD declined 0.49% to 9.34. The U.S. Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 100.00 during the same period.


The market close in Casablanca reflected selective strength among financial and transport-related names, while individual industrial and beverage companies posted the largest declines.
