Alexander Brothers Face Federal Trial in Manhattan on Sex Trafficking and Assault Charges

Three brothers - Oren, Tal and Alon Alexander - went on trial in Manhattan federal court accused of a series of sexual assaults and human trafficking offenses spanning 2008 to 2021. All three have pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say the defendants used their wealth and influence to lure victims to luxury settings where the alleged crimes occurred; defense teams say the encounters were consensual.

Key Points

  • Three brothers - Oren, Tal and Alon Alexander - are on trial in Manhattan federal court on charges of trafficking and sexual assault tied to seven named victims; Tal faces nine charges, Oren and Alon eight each.
  • Prosecutors allege a pattern of luring women to luxury locations - including New York, the Hamptons, Las Vegas and cruises - where victims were drugged and sexually assaulted; alleged incidents span 2008-2021. (Sectors impacted: Legal, RealEstate, PrivateSecurity)
  • More than 20 women may testify, some under pseudonyms; the defendants also face multiple civil lawsuits. Each brother has separate legal representation, and all plead not guilty.

The federal trial of three affluent brothers accused of sexually assaulting and trafficking women and girls over more than a decade opened in Manhattan on Tuesday.

Oren Alexander, Tal Alexander and Alon Alexander have entered pleas of not guilty to an indictment that ties them to trafficking and related criminal allegations involving seven named victims. The indictment lists nine counts against Tal Alexander, 39, while twins Oren and Alon Alexander, both 38, are each charged on eight counts.

Prosecutors told the court that more than 20 women could be called to testify in the prosecution's case. Some witnesses are expected to give testimony under pseudonyms to protect their identities. In addition to the criminal indictment, the brothers face numerous civil lawsuits alleging sexual abuse.

According to court filings, Oren and Tal Alexander co-founded a luxury real estate brokerage known as Official. Alon Alexander is identified as a former executive at a private security company. A spokesperson for the defendants had no immediate comment, court records show.

The prosecution alleges that the brothers exploited their wealth and social standing to draw women to lavish parties or upscale locales - including New York, the Hamptons, Las Vegas and on cruises - where, prosecutors say, victims would be given drugs, sexually assaulted and raped. The indictment covers alleged acts that occurred between 2008 and 2021.

Defense attorneys have pushed back against those assertions, arguing that the encounters in question involved willing participants and that the women were not paid to have sex. Each brother is represented by his own legal team. Notably, Oren Alexander's counsel includes Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos; Geragos was one of the defense lawyers who represented Sean "Diddy" Combs in his sex trafficking trial last year.

The three men were arrested in December 2024 and have been detained at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center while awaiting the outcome of the federal prosecution. The case is being heard in Manhattan federal court.

Prosecutors indicated on Tuesday that the first alleged victim expected to testify met Alon and Tal Alexander at an NBA Finals watch party hosted at a celebrity's Manhattan apartment in June 2012. The filing alleges that the woman was given drugs and alcohol, lost consciousness and was subsequently raped twice by Alon Alexander.

The trial is expected to unfold with testimony from multiple witnesses and detailed examination of events spanning more than a decade. Given the number of potential witnesses and pending civil suits, the proceedings may involve extensive witness protection measures and procedural motions to address identity and privacy concerns.

Summary

Three brothers charged in a federal indictment have pleaded not guilty to allegations of drugging, sexual assault and trafficking tied to events from 2008 to 2021. The prosecution plans to call more than 20 women as witnesses, and the defendants face parallel civil litigation. The men have been detained since their December 2024 arrests.

Risks

  • Ongoing civil litigation and the criminal trial create legal and reputational risk for the luxury real estate brokerage co-founded by Oren and Tal Alexander. (Sectors impacted: RealEstate)
  • Witness identity protections and pseudonymous testimony may complicate proceedings, potentially prolonging the trial and affecting case timelines. (Sectors impacted: Legal)
  • The crowded witness list and claims covering more than a decade introduce evidentiary and timeline uncertainties that could affect prosecutorial strategy and defense preparations. (Sectors impacted: Legal)
